Hey fellow collectors!
It’s your girl Suha 👋 and I’m back with another deep dive for all my fellow figure fiends. Whether you’re a hardcore grail hunter or just starting out with your first Nendoroid, buying anime figures online can be magical—or a complete nightmare.
I’ve bought from everywhere—eBay, proxy sites, Japanese hobby shops, random Discord groups (yep 😬)—and today I’m spilling the truth:
✅ Where to safely buy authentic anime figures
❌ What scams and red flags to watch out for
💖 My personal faves and buying rituals
🎯 The Top 6 Sites to Buy Anime Figures Online (Safely!)
1. AmiAmi
✅ Best For: Pre-orders, authentic Japanese imports, and great secondhand deals
🌐 Website: amiami.com
AmiAmi is a legend. It’s where I pre-order most of my new releases, and their “pre-owned” section is full of gems in mint condition. Plus, their packaging is so good, it’s like opening a gift from your future self.
Watch out for: No free shipping. Shipping from Japan can get $$$, especially for scale figures.
2. Mandarake
✅ Best For: Hard-to-find grails and vintage releases
🌐 Website: order.mandarake.co.jp
Mandarake is like a treasure dungeon for otaku. You’ll find rare figures, old merch, and discontinued lines here. I’ve scored out-of-print Madoka Magica and Eva figures that I thought were gone forever.
Watch out for: You’ll need Google Translate unless you use the English version. Be patient—it’s worth it.
3. Good Smile Company Global Store
✅ Best For: Official releases, Nendoroids, and brand trust
🌐 Website: goodsmile.info/en
This is the manufacturer’s store—aka no bootlegs here, ever. Their release calendar is 🔥, and you’ll get early access to some limited items.
Watch out for: Long wait times. Items often ship months after pre-order (IYKYK).
4. eBay (with extreme caution)
✅ Best For: Hard-to-find pieces and decent deals (sometimes)
🌐 My eBay Picks – Handpicked & Verified
I buy from eBay a lot—but only from sellers with real photos, high feedback, and verified authenticity. It’s great for finding local deals or scoring older figures without using a proxy.
Watch out for: Bootlegs, stolen stock images, and vague descriptions. If it seems sus—it probably is.
5. Solaris Japan
✅ Best For: New and used imports with DHL shipping
🌐 Website: solarisjapan.com
Their listings are super detailed, and they clearly mark used items. Plus, I love that they often have figures others don’t, and they ship pretty fast for coming from overseas.
Watch out for: Prices can be a little higher than AmiAmi or Mandarake.
6. MyFigureCollection (MFC)
✅ Best For: Collector-to-collector sales
🌐 Website: myfigurecollection.net
This is the online hub for anime figure collectors. You can track your collection, see photos, compare prices, and even message other collectors about buying or trading.
Watch out for: You’re dealing with individuals, not shops—so always use PayPal Goods & Services for protection.
❌ Red Flags to Avoid When Buying Online
Let me just say—I’ve learned some of these the hard way. 🥲
Only stock photos: Always ask for real, well-lit photos.
Prices way below market: If it’s too good to be true, it’s probably fake.
"Brand new in damaged box" from unknown sellers: This is bootleg speak.
Vague shipping details: You should always know where it’s coming from and how long it’ll take.
No returns or buyer protection: Just nope.
🛒 Suha’s Personal Ritual Before Buying a Figure
Here’s what I do every single time before clicking “buy”:
Check MFC to confirm the figure’s real and what the box should look like.
Compare prices across sites (AmiAmi, eBay, Mandarake).
Look for user reviews or unboxings on YouTube/Reddit.
Ask questions if needed. If the seller gives bad vibes, I walk.
Double check shipping & customs. Especially with EMS or DHL.
🧸 Final Thoughts from Suha
Collecting anime figures is a joyful obsession—but it’s easy to get burned if you’re not careful. Use trusted sites, learn to spot the fakes, and most of all… collect what makes your heart happy.
Whether you're hunting down a rare Rei Ayanami or just grabbing your first chibi girl with a staff, I’m cheering for you 💕
